Role and responsibilities
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) serves as the primary fire and rescue service within PoliceUK RP, operating around the clock to protect lives, property, and infrastructure across London’s boroughs. Frontline Firefighters are responsible for core emergency responses, including interior search and rescue, structural firefighting, technical extrication at Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs), and hazardous materials containment. Specialized operations are managed by trained crews deploying aerial platforms, high-reach appliances, and heavy Fire Rescue Units (FRUs) for complex technical or water-based extractions. Operational command follows a strict tactical hierarchy: Crew Commanders (Leading Firefighters) direct individual appliance crews and BA (Breathing Apparatus) search teams; Watch Commanders (Sub/Station Officers) manage multi-pump incidents and overall station readiness; and Group Commanders provide strategic leadership alongside Police and LAS during major multi-agency operations using the METHANE framework.
